The Place of Precast Material in the Construction Industry

The number of building materials used in the construction sector is significant. These materials have different properties required at various points in construction.

Depending on the ground and the area to be built, these materials are used. Recently, precast has become one of the most talked-about building materials in construction. However, we can explain the advantages of precast within the context of supply and demand. Despite its many advantages, whether precast provides benefits for manufacturers and construction companies depends on the balance of supply and demand.

When consumers are ready to buy a product at a predetermined price, it’s called “demand,” while producers being ready to sell their products at predetermined prices is called “supply.” If there is no demand, firms face financial difficulties when supply is implemented. In this regard, it can be said that precast is produced according to demand.

Generally, these processes are encountered in important places for the construction sector such as Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Bursa, and Kayseri. However, thanks to the portable durability of precast, it can be transported to different locations for assembly.

Building Materials Used in the Construction Sector

The materials used in construction structures can be explained with their various properties. We can explain them in the following general terms: asphalt membrane, lime, cement, brick, sand, construction iron, steel mesh, gravel, stone, clay, aerated concrete, concrete nail, tile, mosaic, timber, brick, welded wire mesh, construction nail, gravel, rock, aluminum, glass wool, granite.

As can be understood, these are used in the foundation, facade cladding, and decoration processes of buildings. Precast, on the other hand, is obtained with silica sand, white cement, alkali-resistant glass fiber, and water. This material, which combines durability, aesthetics, and thermal insulation properties, can be used in foundations, columns, beams, cornices, decorations, landscaping, and many other areas.

Reasons for Choosing Precast in Construction

Looking at the materials it is produced from, we can say that precast creates advantages for both manufacturers and those who demand it.

  •         Firstly, precast involves simple installation procedures. Panels prepared for precast exterior design show resistance to transport and impacts.
  •         They can be produced and transported under all weather conditions. For other materials, this may be the opposite.
  •         Precast facade cladding meets the desired design, thermal and noise insulation, durability, and aesthetics in a single material. Moreover, production for such demands in major cities can be completed in a shorter time.
  •         Production facilities are usually established near cities with the highest demand, providing advantages in transportation.

·         Precast cornice processes, such as desired window sills and floor bands on the exterior facade, can be easily achieved.
